Another of the famous Peters's Letters.
To Rev. Dr. Byles, at Halifax, Nova-Scotia
Reverend Sir,
I have not wrote to you some time past, nor received a line
from you since my arrival here; the reason why I have not
wrote to you is too obvious to explain.
. . . [1 column on philosophy, the war, and religion]
If the Congress hold out bold --- America will see Flanders
in the land of saints--- by now I fancy the saints are
singing their old puritanic hypocritic canting hymn, viz.
Peace is the blessing that I seek
  How lovely are her charms---
  Eke they may remember also---
That to the wicked is no peace---
Their cruelty to the Tories does honor to their vital, pure,
original, Geneva system of religion planted in America by
their half faced, no faced, two faced forefathers. . . [13
